Terms and Prices


Lesson Terms and Conditions

  • Lessons are held on a weekly basis.
  • Lessons are paid for in one-hour increments only, unless student is a beginner (see below for details).
  • Initial lesson is paid for separately and is not included in packages.
  • After initial lesson, all lessons thereafter are scheduled in packages of four, six, or ten (see pricing and discounts, below).
  • If student arrives more than 5 minutes late without prior notification, that lesson may be forfeited.
  • Cancellations MUST be made at least 24 hours in advance and MUST be made up within two weeks to avoid forfeit.
  • If purchasing a package of four, you’re allowed one cancellation, if purchasing six you’re allowed two, and if purchasing ten, you’re allowed three.
  • Additional cancellations beyond what is allowed per package will not be made up and is considered a forfeit of that lesson.
  • There is no penalty if the instructor cancels, however, make-up lessons still must be held within two weeks.
  • BEGINNER: One (1) Half-hour lesson each for voice or piano.

    INTERMEDIATE: One (1) one-hour lesson each for voice or piano, or a combined one-hour lesson of both.

    ADVANCED/EMERGING PROFESSIONAL (voice students only): Two (2) one-hour lessons per week or more. Piano will be included in at least one lesson per week. 


Lesson prices are as follows:
  • $50 per hour. ($25 for beginners)
  • Package of four: $200 ($100 for beginners)
  • Package of six: $280 – Save $20. ($140 for beginners; save $10)
  • Package of ten: $460 – Save $40. ($230 for beginners; save $20)


 

   Piano Lesson Objectives

Lessons include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Hand positioning
  • Posture
  • Proper fingering technique
  • Warm-ups
  • Music theory
  • Strengthening and stretching exercises
  • Scales and Arpeggios
  • Expression
  • Recital Preparation

Required Materials

  • Binder with loose leaf and staff paper
  • Alfred’s Lesson and Theory books (books differ for children and adults -- please select the book that corresponds to age)
  • Hanon warm-up book
  • Alfred’s Scales and Arpeggios
  • Other materials at instructor’s recommendation
General Home-Practice Guideline:

  1. Strengthening and stretching exercises
  2. Warm-ups
  3. Scales and Arpeggios
  4. Practice old material
  5. Practice new material
  6. Practice old material again
  7. Music theory (should be considered a separate practice)

 

Voice Lesson Objectives

 Lessons include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Posture & breath control
  • Warm-up technique
  • Voice placement & technique
  • Tone
  • Expression
  • Music theory and rhythm
  • Sight-singing (solfege)
  • Performance technique and etiquette
  • Vocal health and anatomy
  • Recital preparation
  • Piano skills

Required Materials

  • Black 3-ring binder with loose-leaf and staff paper
  • Recording device
  • Practice book Sing Legato
  • Theory books
  • Songbooks and any other materials at instructor’s recommendation

 General Home-Practice Guidelines
